Richard J Knaggs
Solicitor

Richard J Knaggs is the founder of Knaggs & Co Solicitors. Richard set up the firm in 1983 and is a Solicitor and Principal of the firm.

Richard has many years experience in both commercial and residential property matters.

Richard also holds a wealth of expertise in the area of Sports & Media law. Richard has advised internationally recognised figures in all aspects of their commercial dealing. In particular, Richard has specialist knowledge of broadcast media contracts.

Stuart Lisgo
Solicitor

Stuart Lisgo joined Knaggs & Co in October 2020 and was promoted to Partner in November 2021. Stuart also leads our Will, Trust & Probate Department.

Stuart trained as a solicitor with a Newcastle Quayside firm and qualified in 2006. Stuart was a Partner in a Sunderland based high street firm for over ten years before moving to Knaggs & Co.

Stuart offers expert advice in relation to wills, probate, powers of attorney, trusts and wealth tax planning.

Stuart also advises on the merits of contentious probate claims and can assist with all practical aspects of bringing or defending such claims.

Kieran Sewell

Conveyancing Executive

                     

Kieran is an experienced Conveyancer having taken up a position at a local law firm in Whickham straight from leaving school, undertaking this area of law his whole working life. He has gained experience in both smaller local solicitors and large, national firms.

Kieran undertakes both Commercial and Residential property transactions on behalf of the firm. This covers acquisition, sales and Leases.

Kieran will qualify as a Licensed Conveyancer in 2025.

Helen Pew
Conveyancing Executive

Helen joined Knaggs & Co in 2016. Helen has over 12 years of experience in property matters. Helen worked as a Senior Legal Assistant within both the Commercial Property Department & the Residential Conveyancing department.

In 2023 Helen became a Conveyancing Executive managing her own case load of residential conveyancing matters.

Helen has recently enrolled to study to become a Licenced Conveyancer.

Louise Wilson
Conveyancing Executive

Louise joined the firm in June 2024 as a Conveyancing Executive.  Louise has over 20 years of experience in working in Law Firms in Yorkshire and the North East in different areas of law.   She gained her experience by starting as an office junior and progressed to running her own caseloads in 2019, whilst also studying and obtaining her LLB Degree.

Louise is also currently studying LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) with the University of Law and hopes to eventual join the role of solicitors.

Conveyancing Executive

Steph rejoined Knaggs & Co after a career break to start a family. Steph has a wealth of experience in all aspects of residential conveyancing.

We are delighted to welcome Steph back to the team.

EMMA THOMPSON

Litigation Executive

Emma has worked within the Legal Sector since leaving college in 2006. Emma has worked for a variety of law firms from international commercial law firm headquartered in her home city of Liverpool to small boutique firms across the country and has settled in Redcar. Emma has a keen interest in matters involving catastrophic injuries, psychiatric illness and more complex personal injury matters however, takes instructions on all Civil Litigation matters from Employers Liability, Public Liability, RTA, Clinical Negligence, breach of contract or property disputes.

 

Emma commenced her Legal Studies with The Chartered Institute of Legal Executive Lawyers and studied in The Liverpool Law Academy, The Institute of Prison Law and The Open University.

GEORGE KNAGGS

Apprentice Solicitor

George is a 2nd generation member of our firm, providing long-term continuity and reassurance.

George joined the firm as an apprentice in 2024 and is training to become a solicitor in the fullness of time.

George provides assistance to the Fee-Earners throughout our departments.

Marie Hall
Senior Legal Assistant

Marie Hall has been with Knaggs & Co for over 30 years, predominantly as a Senior Legal Assistant.

Marie works within our Sports & Media division.

Michelle Blackburn
Senior Legal Assistant

Michelle Blackburn first joined Knaggs & Co over 20 years ago. She is a Senior Legal Assistant within the Wills and Probate Department.

Michelle has a thorough understanding of the probate journey and is able to lead our clients through this difficult process with compassion and expertise.

Michelle is a very experienced assistant and is a valued member of the team.

Nicola Morrison
Legal Assistant

Nicky is an experienced Legal Assistant, who works with our Commercial Property team.

Nicky trained as a legal secretary at a Middlesbrough firm covering many areas, including litigation, conveyancing, matrimonial and probate, before choosing to concentrate upon conveyancing.

Nicky joined us in 2024 and is a welcome addition to our firm.

Megan Jones Legal Assistant

Megan join our firm in 2024. She is a Legal Assistant in our family department.

Megan has completed her Law Degree (Mlaw) and is now undertaking her SQE exams.

Megan has ambitions to qualify as a solicitor.

Faith Nicholson Legal Assistant

Faith Joined us in 2022 and works predominantly in our Residential Conveyancing team, but also provides ad hoc assistance to the Commercial Property department.

Faith is currently studying a law degree through the Open University and is hoping to complete this very soon.

Hannah Close Legal Assistant

Hannah Close joined the firm in September 2024 as a Legal Assistant in our Residential Property Department.

Hannah has worked in Conveyancing for over two years and is looking to progress further in the department
